I was really tempted to give this post some kind of wordplay-ish title, but I resisted.  You’re welcome.

Anyway, let’s talk sewing!

I love sewing.  Seriously.  Love it.  If this were fifth grade, I’d be carrying around a notebook covered in little hearts with “Megan + Sewing 4-Ever” written in loopy cursive inside.

I’d wanted to sew for a few years, but hadn’t taken the time to learn.  Then I had JB* in August 2010 and it’s like something in my head finally clicked (Moms out there, I know you’re with me on this!): Time passes.  Quickly.  If there’s anything in life you want to do, the time to do it is now.  Also, I wanted my son to grow up having a mom that actually did things, instead of just thinking about or talking about doing things.  I wanted to be a mom worth telling his grandkids about, you know?

So, I took my very first class in January and it was like I’d been waiting all my life for this.  I’ve always wondered what it must feel like when people talk about finding their passions, but now I get it.  The more I do, the more I want to do; the more I learn, the more I want to learn.  It has brought such balance and joy to my life, and gives me the ability to see myself objectively improving at something (which I sorely, sorely missed when I quit working to stay home with JB).

Right now, I’m taking a quilting class (did you know that quilting is AWESOME?  Because I did not, but it so totally is!) and working on a few other projects and I seriously. Cannot.  Get.  Enough.

And now….I’d better get back to my machine….

Feel free to check out some of my projects!
